Re-run of last year’s Grand Final

Cramlington Rockets’ 1st XIII are set to be the headline match at this year’s North East Magic Weekend.

Taking place on Saturday 12th May, all the North East clubs are set to feature on the same day at Kingston Park stadium, similar to the main event taking place at St James’ Park the week after.

With four matches planned, it’s a great day out to see all the North East’s teams in action.

Durham Tigers opens the day at 12pm against Gateshead Storm before Durham Demons take on Catterick Crusaders at 13:45.

The clash between Peterlee Pumas and Jarrow Vikings provides a moth-watering warm up at 15:30 before the main event of Cramlington Rockets against Wallsend Eagles at 17:15.

Having won in their opening game against Gateshead Storm last week, Coach Jordan Robinson is expecting a tough match.

“We gave ourselves a lot of work to do last week and did well to comeback, especially in the heat.

We had a lot of debutants too so there would have been some nerves in the first half, but once we settled down we played some good rugby.

This week we need to hit the ground running.

Wallsend are the reigning champions and we were disappointed to lose out in the Grand Final last year.

We gained a lot of experience from that day, we are another year older and with some new faces in the squad, it’s going to be an exciting match that could go either way.”

Entry on the day is through the East Stand Tap & Tackle where food and refreshments will be served all day. Kids are free and adults only £3.
