For all parents and guardians of children and young people playing club Rugby League.

Click here to download the 2017 Rugby Football League Parents’ Handbook.

The handbook is for all parents and guardians of children and young people playing club Rugby League at all levels from Primary RL to Academies. It is a key part of the RFL’s ‘Duty of Care’ to all players, at all ages and levels.

The handbook explains the journey that children make through the game, the choices open to young people and their families and the support available from club and education providers.

The information in the handbook is for all parents and carers; it is particularly important for the families of talented young players who are making important decisions about the next stage in their playing and education.

Anthony Atherton, National Talent and Participation Manager at the Rugby Football League:

“Parents and families are the most important form of support to children and young people in Rugby League. We encourage everyone to download the handbook. It will help families to be clear on the pathway through the sport and support them at each stage.

“As part of ongoing strategies to develop players, coaches and clubs, we see parental engagement as a key component of creating great Rugby League experiences for players.”

The RFL Parents’ Handbook will continue to be reviewed and amended as the game continues to grow.

Once a parent or guardian has downloaded the handbook, they are registered to receive email notifications of any updates.
