Nathan Clemmitt to line up against Wales on Saturday.

One of Cramlington Rockets’ junior will be pulling on the England jersey this Saturday (1pm kick off).

Nathan Clemmitt, 16, has been called up to the England Youth squad for their match against Wales that will be played at Stebonheath Park, Llanelli home of Betfred League 1 side West Wales Raiders.

The young forward has been rewarded for his patience after a fractured wrist denied him a debut earlier in the summer as part of England tour of France.

It is the latest achievement for Clemmitt who also appeared for England U16s last season.

That match was a loss against their Welsh counterparts, with several who featured that day will be lining up on Saturday, adding to the excitement of the clash.

Clemmitt’s selection in the 18-man squad is all the more impressive when you consider all his team-mates bar one are affiliated to Super League clubs.

Leeds Rhinos lead the way with five players selected in the squad, followed by City of Hull Academy with three and St Helens with two.

Castleford Tigers, Huddersfield Giants, Wakefield Trinity, Warrington Wolves, Wigan Warriors and Widnes Vikings all have one representative.

Betfred League 1 sides Bradford Bulls and Newcastle Thunder have one player each called up to the squad, with Clemmitt on the books of the North East club.

“It’s fantastic for Nathan and his family” said Rockets Coach Jordan Robinson. “He worked really hard and shown a great attitude, especially with his fractured wrist coming in the week before the first French test.”

Clemmitt was equally delighted for the call up: It’s an unbelievable opportunity that’s come along and I couldn’t be happier. Especially with coming back from injury.”
