It also helped the Rockets to set a new North East attendance record of 108 children across its camps, an amount bigger than some Super League clubs welcomed at similar events that month.

Held at Longhoughton Primary School on Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th February between 10-3pm, the camps are suitable for children aged 5-13 and cost only £15 for both days. Suitable indoor and outdoor clothing and a packed lunch is required.

Rockets Community, the community arm of leading rugby league club, Cramlington Rockets has been coaching in all the primary schools in Alnwick since September and its staff have been really impressed by the enthusiasm of those taking part.

“We love working with the kids in Alnwick, who are easily some of the most excited and loudest kids we get to coach” said Head Community Coach, Danny Gilroy, known affectionately as ‘Bear’ to the kids.

“We try and make our sessions as fun as possible and the camp will be an extension of that as well as being a way for kids to sample what environment we create with a view to joining the rugby club.

However it is a multi-sports camp so we will play other sports beside rugby and at only £15 we are looking to make it as cheap as possible as an introductory price so as many children as possible can get involved.”
