U10-14s enjoy Newcastle Thunder’s Summer 9s.

Several of the club’s age groups enjoyed a day at Kingston Park Stadium for the Newcastle Thunder Summer 9s.

With over 250 children in action, the Rockets were able to put out two teams at U10s and U12s and three at U14s.

With match action taking place across two pitches, the Rockets took on a number of teams from across the North East and Cumbria.

For the U10s, Rockets Orange made it to the final at half time of the Thunder vs Rochdale Hornets but was just pipped by Catterick Crusaders.

For the U12s, it was an all Rockets final and ‘Team Paul’ emerged victorious over ‘Team Steven’.

It was a similar story for the U14s, with two Rockets sides competing and Rockets Black lifting the trophy.

The day was then rounded up by the U10s forming a guard of honour for the Newcastle match in front of a bumper crowd of 1,000.

“We’ve had a great day out” said U10s Team Manager, Sarah Stephenson. “The kids love playing here and to be able to put so many teams out across all the age groups was brilliant too.”
