Successful night for the Rockets at the NE Rugby League Awards.

Cramlington Rockets walked away with three winners at this year's North East Rugby League Awards.

Held at Kingston Park stadium, the awards dinner recognised the contribution and performance of all parts of the local community game.

With the evening opened by RFL Chief Operating Officer, Tony Sutton, a packed room saw all the North East clubs represented.

The Rockets' Sarah Maddison won Primary Rules Volunteer of the Year for her efforts to run the club's mini section, an impressive feat covering three age groups that was all the more challenging with the various COVID measures that have been required this season.

Amongst the junior section, Finley Lawless was chosen as U14s Player of the Year, having enjoyed another storming season with a team that is going from strength to strength.

Finally for the Open Age, Jordan Robinson was named Men's Coach of the Year in recognition of leading the Rockets to their first senior silverware by winning the NE Challenge Cup and also reaching the NE Grand Final.

Amongst the other nominees were two of Robinson's squad, with Tom Shortell and Dan Glover shortlisted for Men's Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year respectively.

Amongst the juniors too, the Rockets had Oli Jones listed amongst the nominees for U12s Player of the Year in a season where the team won the U12s Plate Final.

James Snowden was also up for U16s Player of the Year following a strong season that saw him called up to the Newcastle Thunder Academy.

"We're very proud of all our nominees and it's been one of our best awards for many years to have three winners" said Chair, Jeff Ball.

"Given the challenges we have all faced, our aim at the start of the year was just to get people back to rugby league and normality but as the year has gone on, we've seen some real achievements both on and off the field that have rightly been realised tonight."

The Rockets will be holding their own club awards with full details to be released soon.
