This Sunday sees the mouth-watering class between Cramlington Rockets u14s v East Leeds u14s in the National Championship Cup quarter finals

The Rockets are undefeated in over 18 months and looking to cause a massive upset by beating one of the best teams in the country.

In preparation for this game, Head Coach Steve Beaty and his team have been trying out a lot of people in a number of positions.

Scott Bates takes the number 1 shirt with team ambassador Rhys Edgehill returning to centre. The consistent duo of Nathan Hall and Kieran Ridley stay on the wings with the highly thought of, Zac Thompson starting at centre.

Captain Tom Marshall and Ollie Gowing start at 6 & 7 as they look to continue their relationship as half-backs.

The versatile Ruairidh Binmore start at Loose Forward with Captain Ben Welsh and James Sample as Second Rows.

The front three sees Dan Philips shake off a thumb injury to start, the very dynamic Adam Thompson and the power house Kieran McLaughlin complete the starting XIII.

Given the size of East Leeds, the Rockets bench is of crucial importance. The explosive Joe Tudor, the always improving Lewis Hope and Mr consistent, Harry Telfor will be looking to express themselves within the game.

Rockets through and through, Ryan Allen, Owen Wright, Thomas Graham and new addition Joe Thompson will also be ready if called upon.

"The lads have already achieved so much this season and thoroughly deserve this opportunity to put themselves against in the big boys of the competition” said Steve.

“After working with that group of players for close to a year now, I can honestly say I have met few squads who train harder. We feel honoured to be flying the North East flag in a national competition and are looking forward to Sunday.

We are not just a team, we are one massive club and to use an old cliché, a big family. The support from other age groups leading up to this has been outstanding and I would like to thank them all.

I am hoping to rock up on Sunday and see a sea of orange and black. Our u14s are great ambassadors for our club and deserve all the support in the world."
