Leading North East coach joins national set up.

Cramlington Rockets’ Community Manager, Steven Beaty has been appointed U16s Assistant Coach as part of the Scotland Rugby League national Team set up.

A leading figure in the development of junior players across the North East, it was the work of Beaty that played a large part in the Rockets being named RFL National Club of the Year in 2017.

His appointment is the latest step in a 15-year career that has also included stints with the RFL Performance Pathway, Gateshead (now Newcastle) Thunder U18s and Huddersfield Giants U16s.

More recently, it has been his work with Cramlington Rockets since returning home in 2014 that has caught the attention of Scotland Rugby League, with the Northumberland-based club’s junior sides enjoying consistent success and numerous players going on to further honours.

Thrilled with his appointment, Beaty said: “it’s an honour to get on board with Scotland Rugby League. I was fortunate to come up a few months ago to run a session and you can see they are building something very positive.”

Scotland Rugby League Chair, Keith Hogg said ‘We are really pleased to have someone with Steve’s experience as part of our Under 16 coaching team. The Under 16’s is a key part of our pathway and for many players it is their first experience of rugby league, so having the right coaches with the right values is vitally important”
