Fun in the sun for the Rockets Family.

Cramlington Rockets' annual family fun day was another big success.

Hundreds of people gathered to watch match action from the North East's U8s and U10s, while the U12s took on Gateshead Storm and the U14s welcomed Cumbrian side, Seaton Rangers.

Alongside action on the pitch was plenty off it, with a tombola, face painter, bouncy castle and more.

With the smell of bacon and hot coffee wafting through the air, members were also able to meet our newest community partner, Squelch Wellies, who had a selection of wellies on show, sales of which give a contribution to the club.

There was also a familiar face in Barci, the mascot of Nando's, returning to support the event for the third year, complete with lots of goodies and high fives to hand out.

Acting as a fundraiser to support the club's work in the community, the day was considered a resounding success with hundreds of pounds raised.

"What a day" said Chairman, Jeff Ball. "It's been brilliant to see the club come together, as well as many friends from other rugby league clubs, and just have some real good fun together.

Everyone has been very generous with buying tickets, donating prizes, baking cakes and more and we could do have the day without their support."

Ball continued: "It's a reminder of the fantastic volunteers we have at the club, for us some of the best in the country. So many people were here at the crack of dawn, or chipping in through the day, helping with all sorts.

A big thank must go to Steve Beaty jnr, the mastermind behind the day every year who really pulls it out the bag."

The club's next big event will be the end of season awards in the next month or so. Full details will be announced shortly.
