As the popularity of rugby league increases within the North East, Newcastle Thunder announce their weekly round up on the Men’s North East League for the new and exciting 2019 season.

This week we take an overview of each club as they make their final preparations before heading into the first round this Saturday. Read below to see how your local team shapes up for the new and exciting 2019 season and find out how you can get involved in.

Wallsend Eagles

2019 Prediction: 1st

After an impressive 2018 season where Wallsend Eagles came out on top in both the North East Men’s Cup and League it will take a lot from any team to top Wallsend Eagles this year.

Jarrow Vikings

2019 Prediction: 2nd

After finishing runners up in the 2018 grand final, the Vikings have recruited well in the off season and will be looking to go one step further in 2019.

Edinburgh Eagles

2019 Prediction: 3rd

With the retention of Lewis Clark and Lucas Reid the Eagles look to be set up for a big season, after reaching the North East Cup final in 2018 can the Eagles do better in 2019?

Newcastle Thunder also feature this Saturday (2:30pm kick off) as they face Keighley Cougars in round one of the newly formed 1895 cup. Newcastle Thunder’s U19’s will play as a curtain raiser as they face St Helens U19’s, (12:30 kick off).
