New community facility in Cramlington now open.

Rockets Community Foundation, the charitable name of rugby league club, Cramlington Rockets RLFC, held a Family Fun Day on Saturday 22nd July to celebrate the opening of The Launch Pad (formerly Eastfield Pavilion).

Back in March 2021 the Rockets signed a long-term lease with Cramlington Town Council to take over the Eastfield Pavilion and set out on a journey to raise over £400,000 to transform the pavilion into a revitalised community centre and long-term home for the rugby club. To support the efforts of the club the Town Council will charge only a peppercorn rent for the duration of the lease.

The Family Fun Day was an enormous success with over 500 people in attendance and was supported by Cramlington Town Council, Koast Radio and Cramlington Rockets.

Speaking at the event, Foundation Lead Steve Beaty (pictured with Club President and Founder, Steve Beaty Snr.) said "We are delighted to finally be able to open the doors of The Launch Pad. Not only will this building be a home for Cramlington Rockets RLFC but it will enable our charity to make a major impact within our local and wider community. We are extremely grateful to Cramlington Town Council for trusting in our charity's vision and we look forward to playing a key role in the future of Eastfield.

Town Councillor in the Eastfield Ward, Norman Dunbar said “It was a pleasure to be at the Fun Day. I am very impressed with the work already carried out by Rockets Community Foundation and by their future plans.

With community rates available, The Launch Pad is now available to hire. To arrange a viewing or booking, contact Steve Beaty on rocketscommunity@gmail.com.
