80 Rockets enjoyed on-the-pitch experiences over Magic Weekend.

Magic Weekend in Newcastle would not be the same without the large dab of orange in the stands all weekend.

With 560 tickets sold for this year’s event, arriving dressed head-to-toe in orange, the Cramlington Rockets were colourful hosts as the rugby league family descended on their home once again.

With 350 Rockets at Kingston Park stadium for Magic Friday, the warm up to the weekend between Newcastle Thunder and York City Knights, it was the club’s U12s that welcomed the players onto the pitch as flagbearers before taking in the match.

Then on Saturday, it was the turn of the club’s U8s & U10s to escort Widnes Vikings down the St James’ park tunnel for the first match of Magic Weekend.

The Rockets have built a strong relationship with Widnes since last year’s event and it was a moment that meant a lot to both sides.

Sunday brought arguably the weekend’s best rugby and the chance for more Rockets to get involved.

With 30 lined up to carry the flags of Hull FC and Hull KR in the derby, a last minute call from the RFL for additional helpers saw even more Rockets, mums and dads included, plucked from the crowd to bear the huge sponsors flag for the St Helens vs Huddersfield Giants match.

By the end of the weekend, over 80 Rockets had been given the chance to get close to the action and everyone loved it.

Part of the Magic of the event is the opportunity it brings and we really hope it will be back next year.
