Futures Bright - The Futures Orange

League kicks off with a great team performance
The NERL U13 season kicked off as the U13s Orange entertained Peterlee on a cold and wet May morning. Heavy overnight rain was easing as the teams met for the first game of the league season.
With Peterlee travelling with a reduced squad, Cramlington made a few last minute squad changes as the game was reduced to match team numbers.
With a strong team with some powerful forwards Cramlington took the game to Peterlee from the off and were rewarded with an early try as Ryan
Charlton opened his league points tally.
Peterlee then produced a solid spell of Rugby pushing the Rockets back and thwarting the rockets attacks until midway through the first half when once more Ryan
was able to push forward to score the 2nd try of the game.
Good play down the left and some quick passes out wide allowed Adam Snowdon to power in out wide for the 3rd try towards the end of the 1st half, before Ryan
Charlton secured his first hat trick of the season. With John Joe Tams scoring a couple of conversions the half time score was a comfortable 20 - 0.
The second half saw Peterlee rally and put some pressure on the rockets and they broke through the rocket defence to score a converted try before Ryan
once more punished the Pumas and with Danny Glover adding the extras the Rockets went 26-6 up. Again Peterlee never said die and again strong link up play secured another converted try.
This fired the Rockets up and Danny Glover produced a great run around the defence to score a try which he converted to end the scoring with the Rockets running out 32-12 winners.
Some great performances from a number of new players was a great start to the season
