The day started with an introduction to S&C, the S&C team lead by Martin Nugent showed the lads how to warm up correctly using the foam rollers then they put the lads through a good gym circuit.

After that the lads were met down on the Astro by the Academy Head Coach Rob Jones, and with help from some of the existing academy players they started working with the new recruits by doing a number of skill games, to round off a brilliant day all teams finished with some fun touch rugby.

Today proved to be a big success with over 40 children turning up to have enjoyment and find out what the college can offer them, this is more proof that Rugby League is continuing to grow in the region. After the session Rob Jones had this to say” I would like to say a big thank to all the community clubs for supporting the event today and helping Gateshead College build links within the rugby league community.”
